For the next little while, this blog will become mostly our "Adoption Blog"...
Our file went to China in November 2005. It was officially logged in by the CCAA (China Centre for Adoption Affairs) on December 15, 2005. For anyone unfamiliar with the process, December 15th is considered our LID (Log in Date). That date is extremely important as it an official date relied on for our referral.
Last month, we almost got our referral. But the CCAA only matched up to December 14th, 2005. This created a bitter sweet feeling for us. For the past 2 years, we had gotten to know our waiting group, CB group 252. Most of them got their referrals before Christmas and we were so happy for them! At the same time, we found it difficult to have to wait another month, and to know that we would not be traveling with Group 252, whom we had gotten to know...
Now it's January 2008....
Apparently, referral packages left China on December 28th. Folks in Australia and Spain have received their referrals as have some in Texas. There was even a report of a referral received in Montreal! This all happened Monday. Then Tuesday was a holiday. Today, we all expected referrals to come in, but that are slow arriving in Ottawa, and everything is closed on PEI because of a nasty snowstorm. So we wait.....
So here is how things are expected to work: Our referral will arrive in the Charlottetown Social Services Office. The Provincial Adoptions Consultant will send it to Ontario to be translated which could take as little as 2 days, but could obviously take longer.
Once it comes back to the Island, the Provincial Adoptions Consultant will review it and make sure it corresponds with our Home Study and application. We will then be contacted, and can meet with the Provincial Adoptions Consultant within a day, to receive our referral. (YAY!!!)
We presume ours will reach PEI (Pre translation) within a day or so of the Ontario families' referrals arriving in Ottawa. Soooooooo, the arrival of referrals in Ottawa is the next big step... Stay tuned!!!
And for the record, we've started to get to know Children's Bridge Group 253, with whom we will be traveling. And as difficult as it was for us to accept that we would not be traveling with group 252, we are delighted that we will get to travel with Group 253. It's a pretty awesome Group! :-)
